700r4 to turbo 350
i blew my 700r4, so im buying a remanufactured th350 off ebay. my question is what parts besides the tranny do i need to make it work, is it hard?
I'm in the middle of doing the swap, maybe try a search for more info. The main problems are 1. the short shaft TH350 will not work with the 700R4 driveshaft and 2. the TH350 has no provision to mount the torque arm. You can solve these problems a number of ways, 1. run a long tail TH350 and re-use the 700R4 driveshaft, 2. get a Torque Arm Mount conversion kit from B&M, Hurst, or YearOne (I'm currently cussing out Hurst because I'm really not liking their kit), or 3. swap the 700R4 tailshaft on the TH350, reuse the 700R4 driveshaft and no worries about mounting the torque arm. Other problems I'm currently running into 1. 700R4 coolant hardlines, one of them does not fit right when connecting to the TH350, considering flaring it and converting to flexable line (or it might work if I flex it more but I dont want to kink the line). 2 stock 700R4 crossmember is not fitting right, but might be a brain fart on my part, I need to spend more time trying to get it to fit (or modifying it). Its possible I'm running the wrong transmission mount but I doubt it since my parts guy said there is only 1 part number for that mount. Only a matter of time before we're done.
Even with all these problems I know it will be worth it. Th350 rocks.
