Hey everyone,

I just picked up a rear end from 97 camaro. Dude sold me 3.23, I open it and it is 3.42 . There is a connector bolted to the top of the pumpkin and the wires are going into it. Anyone has an idea what that's all about? My original rear didn't have one of these.

It is most likely the sensor for the rear ABS. Should be able to disregard it in your installation.

Thats exactly what it is, goes to a reluctor pick up. Throw em away.

I thought that's what the guys already said. Does it matter if it is ABS, not traction control. Either way I am not hooking up or anything, right?

I was just clarifying. A traction control rear would have sensors at the end of each axle. Yep, you're good to go. No hookups needed.

the abs sensors are IN the differential? I thought it was the other way around.. how odd... but I guess it makes sense since it must need only one sensor at the rear.. simplier... but must be a pain to change if it fails...

there's a reluctor ring on the carrier. The pickup is in the differential housing. Not hard to change the sensor.

jmd, since you seem to know about this stuff.

How hard is it to change gears. I want to change that thing to be 4.10. Are there any instuctions/resources/manuals out there for the 10-bolt (like the 47-page doc for T56).

Have you done stuff like that?
