SLP posi replacement How to's and Tips Needed
I have the new SLP posi an 2 28 spline axles. Is it as simple as removing the 2 axles and the current differential then popping the new stuff in? I am sure it isn't. Does anyone have any installation instructions or tips for me? Thanks

You need to remove the axles and carrier and providing you are reusing the same gears then leave the pinion in place. Be sure to keep the bearing caps in order left to right as they are not interchangable and the shims too. Remove the ring gear and torque it ( use loctite ) onto the new carrier along with new bearings if not already in place. You will need a dial indicator to set the backlash. Start by carefully placing the new carrier in and reuse the old shims and just snug down the caps while spinning the carrier. If the carrier will not turn then you need to shim away from the ring gear. If it turns easy set up the dial indicator and check th backlash. If its specs out okay consider yourself lucky and check the gear pattern. If the backlash is to loose /tight then shim accordingly until proper backlash is observed. Recheck the gear pattern and all should be well. If its not you will need to adjust the pinion shim but this would be rare if you are reusing the same gear set. Good luck.
