T-5 mount

Need some help. I got this tranny mount, i've heard that it's better to change it. I need to know where to buy the new crossmember and mount. I've heard that summit is a good place. Can someone give me some more info like part#. I've gone through there website to many. Don't know which on works best. It does not have to be summit. Just need, to know which one to buy. Thanx in advace.

You don't have to replace the cross member unless you damged it. Just go to your local auto parts store and pick up any poly mount they may sell. I have had good luck with the Energy Suspension mounts. You could also get a stock rubber type as well but they tend to fail unexpectidly and quit frequently.

The problem is, he wouldn't be able to use the normal-type rubber mount with the cross-member he has. I had the same problem with my '89 Camaro. The cross-member that fits the mount that he has now (the "hydraulic" type mount) has a different shape to it, and a big hole in the center that the hydraulic mount sits down inside of. A normal-style rubber mount will not bolt up. I had to go to the wrecking yard and find a cross-member from an automatic car (or a manual with the normal style cross-member). I pulled mine off of an '83 Firebird w/ L4 and a TH200C 3-speed auto. The cross-member bolted right up and so did the standard rubber mount.

A new hydraulic mount is quite expensive.

PS: Hahaha! That's funny! That's Dale's picture of that mount!

Yup, you have the infamous "liquid filled" mount....

Go to the junkyard, get a normal crossmember, and use a normal mount. If you want a poly mount, like from Summit or Jeg's or Spohn or your local speed shop, you could use one of those; it would be the common generic GM trans mount that's been on all RWD cars since the mid 60s.
