auto to manual swap which pedals & what to cut
ok i have the auto out...now i have a set of 4th gen pedals and also have a set of 3rd gen pedals...ive heard 4th gen pedals are doable just slightly harder...but how ever them being all one piece would that be easier??? where the gas pedal is is in the same piece rather than 3rd gen styles?? also what about wiring diagram is it the same for 4th gen?? what pedals are better for some heel toeing action
and im going to cut for the trans tunnel for the shifter...any dimensions whats best dremmel with a cut off disc?? a saw?? tinsnips??

Hi,
Put a t56 in a automatic car just this week. I used pedals from a thirdgen it took some time but now they look like they were always there. First take out the drivers seat. Your neck and back will thank you later. Put down a blanket or padding on the floor of the car to lay on. I used the padding from a cot. The thirdgen bracket for a manual will fit perfect where the auto bracket was. Take out the bolt that holds the pedal in. Take out the pedal and be sure not to loose the plastic bushings. Now unbolt the four bolts that hold the bracket . Pull the brake booster out of the car so you can see where the master cylinder will go. The firewall is not market where to drill for the master cylinder. I used the cutouts in the floor padding and drilled the holes for the 2 master cylinder bolts. Use a hole saw to make the center hole. Some guys do not reccomend using the padding cutouts to drill the holes becuase it could be off slightly. If you want to make sure its right you can bolt in the manual braket. The bolt that the pedals rotate on has a brace at both ends. This brace goes down to the firwall for the 2 mastercylinder holes.
I hope this is making sense its kind of late
For the shifter hole,
The hole should be around 4X6 if it is in the right spot. I put the tranny in nuetral and slowly jacked it up so it touched the floor. Then I marked this center and made my square hole from this center. To cut the metal drill 4 holes and use a jigsaw to connect the holes. It cuts easy I bet tinsnips would work. For the transmission boot I used a peice of rubber belt off a crusher plant. The belt was cut so it was 3 inches bigger than the hole. A holesaw was used to make a hole for the shifter. Put the rubber square on the transmission shifter before you lift up the tranny. As the tranny is lifted up the rubber will push against the bottom of the car and make a flexible seal
