New SLP clutch arrived today...DISSAPOINTMENT!!
My new T-56/SLP clutch arrived today. I chosethe SLP because:
1. I have read numerous complaints on here about the Centerforce/T-56 having squeeky throw out bearings. I don't need that.
2. I have read numerous comlaints on there about the RAM HD clutch disk exploding. That's what my stocker did. I don't need that either.
3. That pretty much leaves the SLP.
So it showed up, and I eagerly tore into the box to see my sweet new clutch, and there is was, cast right into the pressure plate... VALEO. BOOO, SLP!! Boo. Stamped on the disk is; "GM". The thing is a stock frickin clutch! There are holes drilled in the pressure plate, I assume to reduce rotating inertia, but other than that, it appears to be a stock replacement. Grrrr.

that is what they tell you! I think everyone that uses that presure plate has to use valeo (it is there desighn) the only way around this is to change it (centerforce)
Even if you go to auto zone you still get the same thing

yeah, O.K., I'm starting to cool down a little bit. I noticed on Tony89GTA's post of his McLeod Twin Disc, it says VALEO on that thing too!

The SLP clutch setup is nothing more than a stock clutch disc and I believe a LT4 Pressure plate. You should have gone with a SPEC clutch. All pressure plates will read Valeo, any aftermarket t-56 pressure plate is just a modified Valeo design.

On clutch choices for a t-56, me personally from my experience and from a lot of other people with 4th gens I would stay away from any SPEC clutch, just way to many people with problems with them.

The real problems that do happen, I gaurantee you spec asks to send the clutch so they can inspect and it almost always replace it for free and ship to you for free. They have great customer service.

I have to agree on one thing, they do have excellent customer service.

You should have went with a stage 4 if your going with SPEC, one of the main problems with the new stage 3 is they put 4 cylinder springs in your disk hub and they tend to explode. The stage 4 is a solid hub and was the clutch I was originally going to go with but I had enough fun replacing clutches, 2 SPEC's is enough so I figure I'll try the McCloud street twin, from what I hear it's last clutch you'll ever need!! I hope that is true
