9 bolt whines worse than my ........
My 9 bolt has a howl, I found the pinion had a little play. I tightened the pinion and checked the gears, everything looks OK but it still howls. Is it going to blow? Will it die a slow predictable death?

well, I would check you pinion bearings. one if it had play that was causing the noise then the bearing is mostlikely bad since they don't normal get loose, second if it was ok, then the new torgue will most likely be too tight
