Different T-5's

Are there differant types of T-5 tranmissons for 3rd gens or are they all the same. Not case wise, but do they all have the same gearing or not?

Getting into Thirdgenresource a few months ago, which is now named something else, they showed a complete spec table of all the tranies that came in the 3rd gen Camaro and there were about three different gears sets in the WC T5, mostly differences in the overdrive, with one something like a close ratio 5 speed and another with a really tall 5th. Thirdgenresource ID's these trannies with part numbers but when I sent them the ID stuff from my '91 T5 they weren't sure what it was--turned out to have the big overdrive, just what I wanted, drops rpm about 1200 (if my tach's accurate) from 4th to 5th so I cruise about 70 mph at 2400 rpm with 3.73's (need to hook up that speedo to be sure).

there is somethingt wayyyy wrong withthat setup.

I had a close ratio tranny eg: .73 5th gear and with 3.42s (factory) did 2600-2700 rpms at 80mph.

3800 rpms is more like 1:1 as in 4th gear.

Sure is....

The factory tach. Looks like it's reading WAY high, as usual.

Actual RPMs at 80 with a high-perf V8 T-5 (.73 5th), 3.42s, and a typical size tire for these cars (26 - 26½") should be about 3200. Should be 2700-2800 if it's got a low-perf V8 T-5 out of a car with the LG4 or L03 and the grocery-cart .63 5thD, and the same combo.

AFAIK all of the V8 ones had a 2.95 1st gear. They're all "close" (all things are relative) ratio. The 6-cyl cars had something closer to 4:1 1st. No idea what 5th those had.
