Upgrading 700r4, Transgo Kit and other Questions.

Okay, I've been wanting to upgrade my tranny for a while. I am looking for a shift kit, decided I want to go with a TransGo kit, but after looking at them, I have a question.

What is the difference between the 700r4 2-3 Shift Kit (reprogramming kit) and the sk-700-jr (Junior) shift kit?

What is included with each kit.

I am also looking at adding a new TransGo Seperator Plate, .500 boost valve, and corvette servo.

Another question I have is, does either of the above kits include the Seperator Plate, Boost Valve or Servo? I know Probuilt sells a kit which is Modified, and has the Boost Valves and Servo. Is it really necessary to replace the seperator plate, or is it included with either kit?

I searched on the net, but found little information about what comes in either kit, and what the difference is between the two. I am hoping someone here knows. Thanks guys!

I can answer some the questions. . . The main difference between the kits is that the reprogramming kit has an additional valve/modification to allow 1st gear to be manually help. This kit also has the option of converting the valve body to full manual (no auto shifting).

I don't believe either kit contains the separator plate. Typically the stock plate is modified and re-installed. I know this is true of the reporgramming kit.

I know that I do not recomend putting the boost valve in. When I rebuilt the tranny in my B4C I ordered a new .500 boost valve and I ended up having a few problems.. If you look into it it appears that the way the valve raises pressure by reducing the amount of fluid. It is at a higher pressure but less volume.. That valve costed my a set of racing clutches.. It burned the 3/4 pack after about 8000 mi. I put the orig. boost valve back in, replaced the clutches, and tried to clean out the new trash. I have over 30,000 HARD mi.s on this rebuild and its doing great. I have a 3.23 rear, I got the valvebody, servo, and vette governer for a 3.23 rear and mine hits good. 60% or more on the throttle and it will bark hitting 2nd and 3rd everytime. As a matter of fact I have never seen a tranny that hit good with a aftermarket boost valve in it. If I am Wrong, or someone has had good luck, or can recomend a good boost valve please tell me about it..

I have a few hundred units out there with the .500 main boost valve, but I also add the Trans-Go steel rings to the unit, & much more, with very little problems. I have never seen or heard of "your' particular problem, so I can not say that the .500 boost valve is to blame. From everything that I have seen in the past, I would say no.
