filling torque converter ?
when i re installed my transmission, was i supposed to fill the torque converter? because i emptied it out to make it easier to lift up. and re install. doesnt puting oil into the tranny fill the converter as well?
the problem i am having is the tranny not upshifting at full throttle.

Yes you shoulkd have added some tranny fluid in the converter prior to installing. Even when I replace my oil filter, I fill it up as well prior to installing it. Tranny fluid will eventually get into the converter but you will have to keep an eye on you fluid level. I put about 2- 2 1/2 tranny fluid in my7 friends converter prior to instaling the tranny. I spinned the converter while filling it up making sure to get the fluid inside.

yes but again keep an eye an eye on the tranny dipstick. Do this in the drive way while shifting in drive.

Putting the torque converter in dry isn't the best thing in the world for it, but it won't stay dry for long. If you've started the car up and moved in enough to know that it won't hit 4th at WOT then the TC has been full for a good long while. It only takes about 30 seconds to get 90% full, and the little air pockets blow out quickly when you're driving it.
BTW it's normal for a 700-R4 to stay in 3rd at WOT. The stock valving won't aloow 4th at WOT. There are a couple of companies that sell kits to supposedly enable WOT 4th gear upshifts, but I hear mixed reviews on whether or not they work. I have no personal experience with it since all of our vehicles are sticks.
If it's not upshifting AT ALL, as in sticks in 1st at WOT, you need to adjust your TV cable. It's been discussed before.

i know it wont shift 3rd - 4th at WOT. but im talking about, having it in drive, and from a stop i floor it, about 4500 rpm instead of shifting into second, it seems to go into neutral until i let go the throttle just for a second then it will shift into 2nd. same thing from 2nd into 3rd.
