700R4 rebuild costs?

My wife was bitten by the auto-x bug this weekend and there's one more event for her to run before winter...

She wants to use her Camaro next time but she needs a tranny. Well, more or less, a rebuild...

She's going to go get some estimates today using my 700R4 out of my '87.

Is there a "typical" rebuild cost? I'm just looking for rough figures... The 700 we'll be using isn't damaged as far as I know, but it'd be nice to freshen it up, especially with a shift kit for the auto-x.

I'm gonna have to have mine done here soon cause it has like 220,000 miles on it! ( I'm suprised it hasnt given up the ghost yet ) but i've done some checking on mine and to have it rebuilt with shift kit and all the goodies it was gonna be like 1200.00.

I just had mine done and it was 1250 total for the following: replaced a cracked drum, TC with a higher stall, shift kit install and an external cooler.

I paid about 750 to have mine rebuilt and it went out a year later!

$80.00 at the junk yard. Got a newer rebuild from behind a 305 with a flattened oil pan. Installed, running great right now. The original died at 200,024 miles.

probably looking at around $900.00 plus for a mostly stock rebuild with a stock convertor.
