A 355 with what ?

It depends on how you drive.
There are members with LT1's, 406's with 5 spd trans.
Dont powershift.
If you get a world class T-5 which came in 3rd gens from 1989 (i think) you can have it rebuilt with a G-Force kit, and have a real
tought trans.

Really ? well thats good news. I recently dropped a 355 into my 91 bird which recently had the WC T-5 fully rebuilt and race prepped by a reputable shop. Nice to know it may last . . . . i was under the impression that 250, 300 is about thier limit.

I am not familiar with the G-Force kit -- and all web searcing returns to me is the latest selection of nVIDIA graphics cards. Ha! Do you have any more info on this kit ?

See: http://www.g-forcetransmissions.com/

G-Force makes an improved T5 and upgrades T5's.

From http://www.g-forcetransmissions.com/tran_gt-5.asp :
"... the G-Force T-5 kit will handle roughly 600 hp or 500 ft-lb. or torque in a 3300 lb. vehicle running drag radials at the track with a moderate clutch upgrade ..."

From the build sheet, they basically rework the entire tranny for road racing.

G-Force T-5 Synchronized Upgrade Kit
bronze shift forks
glassbeaded the case
carbon fiber synchros
heavy duty stabalizer plate
bored out tailshaft to accept larger bearing
custom 1st-4th gears
.68 or .63 overdrive, I forget
