Monte Carlo SS shifter

Will the "T-handle"-style shifter from a Monte Carlo SS (with a 200-4R tranny) work in a 85 Camaro with a 700-R4?

It won't bolt to your floor without modification. The cable and shifter can operate a 700-R4 though just fine; that's what is in my 87. But I think your car has a cable going to the steering column, maybe hookups for reverse lights & neutral safety? Those aren't on the Monte shifters; they are setup for the cable only.
