What kind of tranny?

I just bought a 90 Iroc that needs a tranny. It currently has the 700 R4, and still runs ok....for now. I want to get a tranny soon, but what kind should I get. I kinda want to convert to a T5 or T56 (T56 shouldnt be a problem, it has 3.73's). How tough is it to convert from the AOD to the manual? Is it even worth it? I know that with a TQ and a shift kit the AOD will run pretty quick, but a manual is just much more fun to drive. Please give me some ideas.

the swap isn't that hard. i went from a auto to t5 in my rs. the only thing that was hard was getting the cluth linkage put in and working right. i think the swap helped out alot. i also think that it helped free up some hp but i think it could just just be in my head to. As for the t56 swap i have no idea but i have now idea. Just look in the t56 swap stuff at the top of the page and you will find out what you are up against there.

According to specs you should get about 20 hp from the T5 swap. IIRC it was 210hp with the 700 R4 and 230hp with the T5. I could be wrong though.
