Supporting Engine while tranny is out.

im going to pull the T5 in my 84 camaro for a rebuild. The problem is, i will be moving soon and need to move the car also. i wanted to know a way i can support the engine while it will be on a car dolly. for now ill just leave a jack and block of wood under the oil pan, but when i comes time to move i will need a way to support the engine without the use of a jack underneath. does anyone know of a way i could do this so i wont bust up my dizzy when i let the jack down? thanks alot

My friend says that on the f-bodies hes worked on the stock exaust can actually prevent the motor from tilting back while the trans is out. Never tried it myself, though. Can anyone verify this?

At any rate its a good idea to make sure you at least pull the cap off the dist. if you havnt already done so.

I can verify. My exhaust is holding up the back end of my 355 right now (T56 is out for a clutch swap and new 1-2 synchros.) Of course my exhaust isn't stock, but it should still work.

Definitely pull the cap anyway. Mine didn't tilt enough for it to hit the firewall, but it's too easy to remove it....not worth the chance of breaking it if you leave it on.
