Should I buy a shift kit (700R4)?

97,000 miles, is that too late to install a shift kit? or wil that be certian death for the tranny?
Car's got a 350, dunno much about it cause i bought it from a guy who actually bought the car like a week ago, so none of us know anything about how much power its making...
The tranny isnt slipping or anything, its nice and in good shape....but will i be killing the tranny with a shift kit at these miles?
