Ok, so i am having a hell of a time keeping transmissions in my camaro. I just bought one off ebay and had it installed and a transmission shop. Overdrive was working just fine in it till i was on my way home, it just quit working. With the selector in overdrive if your not pushing the gas your just coasting, but once you hit the gas it revs for a second and then goes into drive. Please tell me that this isnt something major, maybe the torque convertor?

Was it a new/rebuilt tranny? If so, I'd bet the govenor has some trash in it from the rebuild and is sticking, not allowing it to engage OD. I had this problem with a 700 a while back and had to clean the govenor a couple times. It's a very easy task and only takes a matter of minutes.

 

I was coming back home a few minutes ago and it shifted into overdrive again. So how do i go about cleaning the governor?
