700r4 longevity and torque converter concerns

My transmission has 131,600 miles on it, without being rebuilt. It shifts moderately okay. It's been a little sloppy from 2-3 and 3-4 since I did my engine project last spring (6 months, ~4k miles ago) but it hasn't gotten any worse. I had Brian at TBIchips do my PROM. He has the lockup set for a 2000-2400 converter however I'm running the stock converter. Sometimes on the highway my converter comes unlocked (I think- because RPMs can be at like 2300 rpm at 75-80 mph but then 2000 rpm at 80 mph). I don't know whether it's normal or not, seeing as the tranny is so old and due for a flush. The TV cable is also fairly tight, however I'm not positive that it's 100% as tight as it gets due to the crappy vortec mounting brackets...

I am certain that after 131k the tranny itself is in spectacular shape, which I attribute some to my cooler I installed on it last summer... But is it okay to put a S10 converter in this guy? Or should I go buy a rebuilt 700r4 instead? I mean, do you think think I'm putting my tranny at unneccessary risk? I'd think that if I made it 4k+ with it acting this way that it would get worse if there was really a problem- I think it's just a simple fix such as tightening the TV cable or maybe a sensitive lockup speed.

Give me any input you feel I should know. I can take it like a man. I won't feel bad if you think I should replace my transmission, however that's my last ditch effort

Well, if you can do without your car for awhile, run it till it breaks. If you don't want to be stranded and want a short down time. Order a new tranny.

As for the TC, I've fragged 2 aftermarket ones, read rebuilt OEM. Now I have a Vigilante, I don't expect any more problems.
