V6 to V8 -- Tranmission?
Ok, basically, I am in the progress of planning to swap my 89 v6 to a v8, preferably a 350(nothing major in the hp/tq department, just a plain 350 that i can mess around with later). Obviously when i swap in the 90 deg engine my old tranny isnt going to work. Of course, life is never that simple, and it just so happens that the 3-4 clutch pack in my 700-r4 is completely shot, and im a poor bastard who cant afford a new tranny and a 350 plus all the swap parts at the same time(if i saved up i could--problem is its hard to drive a car that only has 2 of 4 gears).
so what i would prefer to do is to find some way to make a v8 transmission(either t5 or 700r4, preferably t5) mate with my little ol v6.
now, i know both auto and manual transmissions have different bellhousings, and the manual has different input shafts(14 vs 26 spline i believe). t5 bellhousings detach, but 700r4's are built in, correct? meaning even if there werent any other complications with the 700r4, i still couldnt bolt it up to my v6.
there was another thread recently about using a v6 t5 with a v8, would the reverse work for making a v8 work for a v6?.
well, ill start with that, and when csi:miami is done maybe i will be able to think more clearly.
