What does everyone think about the B&M holeshot 2400? I will be using it with a 700r4. The motor is a 383, 10.5-1 compression, trick flow 23 deg. heads, holley street avenger 770, performer rpm intake manifold, comp cams XE274h cam.

Get a bigger stall. I went with a 2500 and I kick myself every day for not getting a 3000 or a 3500. I am running a bit more cam than you, I think, but you will be happier with a bit more stall than that.

The difference off the line is amazing. I rode in a car that has less hp than mine, by a decent amount. The same gear ratio (roughly) and the same trans. The difference upon takeoff is noticable. A lot of people are afraid of having too big of a stall, dont be. It wont be that bad. I think in february mine will be coming out for a 3500.

I saw you are using a th350, will it have the same effect in my 700r4?

Yeah, its the same basic concept. I have seen people take stock TPI350 cars, and put a 2800 stall and have it work wonders.

W/ your setup I would go w/ a 3500 stall...

I am gonna run one w/ my setup here in the next month or so I hope...

But my "drivability" and others is completely different... I can take a lot more than a lot of guys on a daily driver...
A 3500 won't be bad though... just take barely more gas than the 2500 to get going... but not much more... plus lock up is a key factor... w/ it you can go bigger and it not get on your nerves...

I'd definitely go bigger, mine stalls around 3000-3200 and its pretty violent off the line even with my stock TPI and everything. 2400 will be too small for your motor.

Thanks for the help guys, but one more question. The B&M holeshot says that stall speed is rated at 230lb/ft or torque. More torque=more stall, so having around 450-500lb/ft will the holeshot 3000 be a wise choice?

I was just looking at the holeshot 3000, it said that it is non-lockup converter and i would have to make transmission modifications. What do you guys recommend on torque converters? (lockup if possible)

I would go with a 3000-3500 stall unless the car is a daily driver or you plan on doing a lot of highway cruising. Yes your trans will require some modifications if you go with a non-lockup converter. I used to have a 700-R4 with a B&M 3000 non-lockup converter. Since you are in Indiana you might want to call Coan and see what they recommend. I've had a lot of luck with their transmissions and torque converters. Their customer service is good too, I'm sure they will recommend the right setup for you. Heres a link to Coans website.

I would go with a 3000 stall even if the car is a daily driver.

If you drive the car alot and do good sized trips on the highway, I would try and get one with a lockup ( I love mine) although they can be more expensive.

I'd go w/ a 3500 in a daily, and will here in a month or so. It better be lockup w/ that stall speed though. If not you will just be slipping all the time...

First and foremost, I would stay away from B&M coverters. I had a 2400 B&M holeshot and the internals disintigrated....and guess where the debris went????? Yep, first into the front pump of the transmission and then all through the trans!

So, what do they run now, $200-$300, well that MAY end up costing you another trans rebuild plus the price of a new converter. In the end I went with a Precision Industries - Vigilante- Torque converter 3200 stall and it is bad a$$. all the internals are made of forged, solid steel of course you pay for it, but well worth it.

Don't waste your time with 2400, go up to at least 3000, you'll be fine trust us. I recently had my vigilante re-stalled to 3400 and it is awesome....Great launches!
