Pre'87 700R Upgrade?
The early 700R's are not of the same quality as '87 and later. Are there any upgrades or mods you can do to these tranny's to get equal or better performance and reliability?

You can make upgrades. The cost to do this will far outweigh the cost to simply purchase a phase 3 trans as a core and build up that one. If it has an aux valve body it is the desirable unit. 87 1/2 up to 92 (some 93's) Contain the aux valve body.
