Shift light
Alright I have a 91 camaro RS with the 700r4. I had it in 1st gear at a stop sign and did a little burnout and shifted into 2nd at about 4000 rpm. Then I put it into OD when I got out on the highway, the car seems to shift fine but at 2000 rpm a light comes on, on my tach that says "shift" with an arrow above it. So I was a little worried about this and took a little drive. It goes thru all the gears just fine but this light keeps flashing soo I'm a little worried that maybe I broke something. Whats going on??

Has the car always had a auto transmission?
If it is an auto car it should not even have the bulb in the cluster. When an auto trany TC locks it would cause the shift light to come on.
At least as far as I know...

Yea it's always been an auto. Last night I replaced all the lights in my dash because the speedo light was out. I noticed there was some bulbs missing so I figured somebody took them out. I put bulbs in all the empty holes. Is this what it is??

Thats it. All you need to do is take out the shift light bulb out.

Yeah, I actually believe on the 700R4 it's indicating when the torque converter is engaged, but don't quote me on that.....
