VSS Wire on 90-92 ECM

I just got a Dakota Digital SGI-5B and I don't know where the VSS wire is on the ECM. I have a 1992 Z28 stock 700R4.
Honestly, I'm confused on how to hook it up. I've done a search and can't find a solution. Can any help?

On the VIN "F" & "8" models, there are four wires for the VSS that go to the ECM. They are as follows:

Pin "B9" purple wire (sensor ground)
Pin "B10" yellow wire (sensor input)
Pin "B11" gray wire (speed output 4000ppm)
Pin "C1" red wire (speed output 2000ppm)

Re: VSS Wire on 90-92 ECM

Holy thread resurection!

I am having some problems getting my SGI-5B (push button) unit working.

I have all schematics for buffer box, etc.

I have mine wired as such.

SGI-5:
PWR 12V+ ---- to buffer box 12v+ (10A Gauges fuse, off w/ ign off)
Ground ------ to buffer box ground
VSS (yellow) -- to SGI-5B signal in
VSS (purple) -- to buffer box output signal gnd wire (purple - bypasses SGI-5)
SGI (out 3) -- to buffer box signal input (yellow)

Basically I bypassed the signal ground terminal in the SGI-5B, and just connecting the VSS signal ground (purple) to the buffers output ground wire (purple). Only the yellow wire from VSS makes it through SGI-5 and then on to buffer box. Is this wrong?

I get no reading on speedometer whatsoever. I get a solid green light on SGI-5B with ign on, not moving. Green light blinks when moving, but nothing on speedometer.

VSS is from a 93' T56. Car is an '88 TA with cruise, formerly an automatic.

Thanks for any input!

-Ryan

Re: VSS Wire on 90-92 ECM

All,

Someone may find this helpful. I had mistakenly hooked up to the number 4 output on the SGI. With wire hooked up to number 3 output, unit works, speedo works.. and behold, so does the cruise control!!

I had dip switch settings 1-4, OFF, OFF, ON, ON. I was somewhere around COARSE setting number 7, FINE setting number 12.

I hooked up a 1000micro Farrad 35VDC cap across the power leads, but will still get noise when stopped every other light. Perhaps I will try a radio noise supressor as some had suggested. Radio shack 'store' no longer carries them.

One thing to note, is that when you go up or down a setting with push buttons, say going from 8 to 7 in the coarse range, the unit stops outputing a signal, until it is powered off and on. FAIRLY ANNOYING. But, it works and messah happy!
