I'm putting this thread here.

So I'm saving up some money for another spring break mod... Last spring break I did my valvetrain (heads/cam/intake/tbi) project. This year I think I'm going with a new rear end; most likely a 3.42 posi disc. But in the meantime, what should I buy? I mean I'm not made of money or anything, yet I keep buying mods and not putting them on (springs, torque converter, etc) because I work so much.

Oh well, let me jsut put this here even though it belongs elsewhere. How much of an ET improvement will I see with 3.42 versus 2.73 gearing? When I put the new rear in, I'll have ym LCAs and ReLos on too.

to make this TBI friendly- nitrous on a TBI motor with a carb manifold... simple concept right? All that's different is that TBI plate versus the carb plate, correct? Awesome.

I've found that gears are one of the best et improvers for your dollar. I went from 2.28 gear to 3.25 gears in my monte and droped almost a full second in the 1/8. If I ever find the idiot that put that rear end in my SS I'm gonna slap him with the 50 pound pinion gear. The pinion was almost the size of the ring gear!

If you had a stock setup then the gearing probably wouldnt be as much of an issue as the torque curve is relatively flat and narrow. With whats in your sig, though, itll probably make a big difference since an improved cam isnt going to like having a high gear ratio out back.

As for the thread, the way gas and air come into a motor really isnt going to effect gear selection as much as whats in the motor, what trans you have, and what type of usage the car will see. I think this is more suited to the trans./drive train board.
