After many searches, I found numerous references on adjusting the Throttle Valve (TV) cable for the 700r4. I never found one that identified the type of adjustment lock I have on mine, all referenced a "D" shaped release tab. The one on mine is square, and it is not obvious that it is a lock release, so thought I'd post what I found. ALL other references on here about HOW to adjust it seem right on, thanks to all!

This car is an 89 Formula Firebird, L98 TPI, stock. I do not know if the TV cable as illustrated is stock, OEM or Aftermarket replacement. The adjusment locks in the cable shield tell me it has been on there a while (two crimps, so at least one adjustment). The square shaped release acts pivoted at it's center, pressing in forward or aft of the center point released the lock. This photo was taken before my adjustment.
