werid problem when cold

started 2 days ago , when first start the car in the morning i let it warm up at least 5-10 mins here in fl its cold like 40 degreez, then i head down the road it shifts thru all gears then when it goes to lock up, it locks then unlocks locks unlocks then locks ??

also when its doing this the speed o needle is not steady, then in the after noon when its already warmer i have no problem. i dont know? i have the lines strait to a transcooler do u think the atf needs to get warmer ? or something with the trans ?

tranny is 5 months old shift kit ,vette servo, .500 boostvalve
thanks

Did you check your training fluid, don't forget check when warm and in neutral. then you might want to check to see if the lines are leaking. It's funny my cAr seems to have more power in the morning when it is called.

I have the same problem when it is cold. If I let the car warm up it will drive fine but when I am driving for a while it will cool down and it will drive at a few more rpms. I think the problem is that I have a 160* t stat and the car is going out of closed loop becasue it is getting to cold. Anyone else have diferent ideas?

Lockup is based on coolant temp, as soon as you start driving air flow over the rad will cool the engine and the ecm will stradle the border of the correct lockup temp until its fully warmed up.

Either warm the car up more, install a warmer stat, install a manual lockup switch or live with it.

Hey just to let you guys know. I got a new stat ($5) and put it in, works great now. And when summer comes I will put the 160* unit back in.
