4th gen 5 speed, i'm in a pinch

Will the 4th gen V6 T5's work in the place of my NWC T5 in my 87 GTA? I just blew my transmission and need to get back on the road quick. if it will I found a T5 out of a 1996 camaro with 48,000 miles for $150 bucks. Thanks for the help

If your current engine is a V8, which it looks to be the case, than the V6 T-5 will not work. I asked about this a few months back and the reason given is that the bellhousing is completely different to mate up to a V6 than a V8. The general consensus was that it could be modified to work, but it wasn't worth the money, time and effort.

The v6 t5 will bolt up to a v8 bellhousing. The fourthgen WC T-5's are the exact same ones as the thirdgens. I know because I had my brother in laws 95 3.4's WC right next to my 91 WC. When you run a V6 T-5, you need to run a S10 Clutch, its the only one that has a large diameter and the same spline count for the v6 t-5.

my mistake, I came back to this thread because i suddenly remembered that your car already had a 5-speed so you have the required bellhousing. I'll shut up now and let more qualified individuals step in

We all make mistakes bud, were all only trying to help after all so any opinion is usually welcomed. I've been corrected quite a few times on this site.

Im not quite sure, you want the one with the 11" diameter or its a 10 3/4 diameter. Basically the biggest clutch they got for the S10. Yes that would be the correct motor, the 4.3.

Later V6 T5s have the "ford" bellhousing to trans. pattern and do not bolt up to the V8 bellhousing. I am not sure what year this happened, or whether it was done with the 3800 powered f-bodies.

from the looks of this ebay link, it looks if the 99 T5 will work to. What do you guys think?

Must be the 3800's only, the 3.4's were the same exact t-5's.
