hello guys i'm new to the board and i have a 92 camaro R.S. that is v-8 equipped and it has a 700r4 trans! here's my problem? I wish to replace this trans with a turbo-400 and i'm using the crossmember and adjustable torque arm kit from SPOHN, BUT I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT LENGTH DRIVESHAFT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS SWAP????? now buddies of mine said just find an 82-84 camaro/firebird driveshaft (one that was equipped with a turbo-200c auto trans) and just change the yolk to one that fits the t-400 trans! sounds simple enough? but just try finding one? SO DOES ANYONE KNOW THE EXACT LENGTH FROM U-JOINT TO U-JOINT CENTER EXCLUDING THE YOLK???? THANKS AND HAVE A HAPPY HOLIDAY! SLICK.

WELL GUYS EVERYTHING WAS A COMPLETE SUCSESS!!!! I WAS ABLE TO LOCATE AN 83 FIREBIRD DRIVESHAFT AND CHANGE THE YOLK TO COMPLETE THIS SWAP TO A TURBO 400 TRANS!!! THE KIT FROM SPOHN WAS AWSOME AND A BUDDY OF MINE REBUILT THE TRANS AND I ADDED A B&M SHIFT IMPROVER KIT AND CHROME DEEP PAN!!! BUT THERE WAS ONLY ONE THING I FORGOT?LOL!
THE DIPSTICK!!! SO I RAN TO MY LOCAL SPEED SHOP AND PURCHASED ONE OF THOSE CHEAP CHROME ONES AND POPPED IT IN AND ALL WAS GOOD! THE TRANS BREAKS THE TIRES IN SECOND WITH NO PROBLEM, AND MAY DO IT IN HIGH WITH SOME POWER? (STOCK T.B.I. 305) BUT I DO HAVE A POSI UNIT AND GEARS FROM A MONTE CARLO S.S. INSTALLED IN THE REAR ALREADY SO IT FEELS LIKE IT'S READY FOR SOME POWER!!! THE ONLY THING WITH THAT SWAP I DID'NT LIKE WAS TAKING OUT THE 28-SPLINE AXELS AND PUTTING IN 26-SPLINES
THAT SEEMED TOO MUCH LIKE GOING BACKWARDS BUT I HAD TO MAKE DO!!! PROJECT SLEEPER IS UNDERWAY!!!!!
