Hit a curb....

so I junked my drivers side rear wheel, and now a clunk with a brake grind every revolution... I don't know much about this area of the car... I'm assuming an axle or wheel bearing bent?

can someone tell me what I can look for to tell what this is....

such a sad day... car is a 94 z28... I have a third gen too, so maybe you could still show sympathy, and you know, help me out please...

Sounds like a bent axle. The axles arnt too hard to remove. Probably not a bad idea to replace the bearings and seals on both sides as well while your there. Im sure they could probably use it after 10+ years.

Do I just need 10 bolt axles?

Any idea where I can get them, and about how much they'll cost?

Thanks

I think the 4th gen axles may be a different legnth then the 3rd gen ones.

hmm so I pulled the rotor, got a new one, when I had it off put the car in drive and the hub wobbles like no ones business...

I'm under the impression its a 1 piece hub and axle and I'll need to replace the whole thing....

yes, go out to a yard and get another axle. Make sure to get the correct one. Both the left and right axles are different lenghts.

I'm really surprised the axle bent and the wheel didn't. Usually the wheel bends before the axle.

the wheel is pretty toast...

I found another wheel, and rotor... now to get the axle. ebay has a couple that are lookin good and cheap with little time left, hopefully they work out.

Where should I go for bearings?

Yup; IIRC the correct Superior axle for a 4th gen is the EV10-5. The EV10-4 is the one for third gen rears. The 3rd vs 4th gen axles are about 1-11/16" or so different in length.

You can get bearings & seals at any parts store. They come with the set of the Superior axles.
