I have an 87 iroc with a 305 TPI 5 speed. I'm dropping in a pretty strong 350. I have been told that I will tear up my non world class T-5.

It seems a lot of work and money to drop in a T-56. Will a World Class T-5 handle around 300ish horsepower if I don't race it?

I don't drive my car hard. Not saying I'll never light up the tires to blow out one of those little imports.

Thanks

Theyre not very strong at all. I thnk 300hp is about all they can take. I put a rebuilt L69 305 infront of mine and i dont beat the crap out of the trans or powershift or nothing but i do light em up every now and then, now the case wont hold fluid. Mines not a WC either but id imagine if you baby the trans it will hold up. My trans did have 180xxx miles on it before i put in the new motor.

Its not HP that kills them, its torque. Specifically, lots of it all at once.

You need to do a search for TKOPerformance and RB83L69 to find out about building performance T5's. You can build one to handle 450 hp/ft. lbs. for under $1000--check it out.
