Nitrous with stock T5 question

Right now i'm torn between keeping my car (which needs MUCH work), putting in a nice, powerful (okay, maybe not TOO powerful....300-325 horsepower?) engine and keeping the 700R4, or selling it and buying a 305/5 speed car thats in nice mechanical shape, then working with the suspension and stuff as well as the more basic engine mods.....
I love drag racing and would love a 12 / low 13 second car for the street nights, but i'd only be up at the track twice or maybe 3 nights a month, and this will be my only car. I'd also love a peppy (Not too fast, but quick enough to have a little fun), good looking, smooth running car that i can really enjoy driving every day (Without breaking laws left and right, LOL)....
I really want a manual transmission (After just driving my friends new IROC with a 5 speed around briefly, i cant convince myself that i dont REALLY want a 5 speed.....i DO! LOL

I cant afford to do a T56 or build a bulletproof 5 speed
I cant keep the current engine in my car (its pretty much TOAST) and the transmission probaly isnt far behind
I dont really want tuned port injection (would prefer carb) just cause i want SIMPLE.

If I were to get a 305/5 speed car, could I safely use maybe a 75-100 shot of nitrous at the track? I dont wanna risk the transmission, but nitrous would be a cheap and easy way for me to have a little extra power at the track, but still have a reliable car to drive every day.
Hope this is the right forum,
Thanks,
-Chris

I have a VERY torquey, very streetable combination. Definately go 5 speed. My car is putting down 364.2 HP/375 TQ to the rear wheels and I have a bone stock World Class T-5 tranny. On top of that I have a 75 HP shot of Juice. I have sprayed on street tires and on slicks and my tranny works fine. The only thing that seems to be killing my T-5 slowly, is missing shifts at 6000+ rpm! The tranny has about 160,000 miles on it and 5,000 of those are behind my E-Tec engine. I am planning on doing a rebuild soon, just so it shifts like new.
