Th350-th700r4 differences.

Alright, im just wondering if the TH350 and 700R4's are internally majorly different? my father has been rebuilding TH350's all his life(almost since they started making them) and i was wondering if they are generally the same internally? i remember about 5 years or more ago he took the pan off one and saw wires and got discouraged from trying to rebuild it. if its not much different ill buy a scrap one and have him go through it. any ideas?

It would be easier to list the things that are the same.

1. Both were made by GM
2. Both have aluminum cases
3. Both use some variant of Dexron fluid
4. Both pans are roughly square

Beyond that, they are completely totally altogether different. And besides that, not much about them is the same either.

That cleared it up pretty good, are they hard to rebuild for someone who knows transmissions fairly well?
