t-5 AIR and smog

If you are swapping a t5 into a v6 700r4 car that does not have an AIR system, for smog purposes in Cali are you then required to have an AIR system, or are you exempt because it wasnt stock on your exact car?

I can't say on the specifics of the rules but, since your did not have a 5-speed from day one it falls into a real iffy area. your best bet is to not even metion it to them at all.

what is that comic you have going? you make that?

heh, i wish i made it, its those comics are pure genius.

www.whiteninjacomics.com if you like random funniness.

Yeah, im hoping that they just wont realize that a manual fbody has it when an auto doesnt.

Why is that, anyway? Is there some reason for the autos to not have it?

Hell, i dont think ill be passing smog any time soon either way, so w/e.

I agree that I wouldn't mention it, but technically the emissions requirements are linked to the engine, not the transmission, so if the engine didn't have it originaly they can't make you retrofit it. I would just run silent, run deep on that one.

BTW, if your Scout has the original motor it's a 304, not a 305. Those a cool trucks, and the IH engines are tough as nails.

ok, sounds good.

huh, could have sworn the carb rebuild kit said IH 305, but then again that was a few months ago. They are cool trucks for sure.
