Solid tranny mount for 700R
I bought solid motor mounts for Moroso. I then realized that I also had to have solid tranny mounts. Guess what? I can't find anyone who makes them, not even Moroso. I emailed them to find out why they don't make them( for 82/92 Camaro/Firebird). Any help out there? If I have to make them myself, fine. Just need to know.

you don't want or need solid tranny mounts. put a poly mount on there and your bellhousing will thank you by not snapping in half.

According to Moroso, you have to have solid mounts all the way around or my bellhousing will not like me. That is why I have emailed them. No answer yet and I need to get the motor/tranny in.

If you run solid mounts thoughout, then when the chassis tries to flex on launch the drivetrain will be sucking up the force. This is not good for the bellhousing (since it's the structural weakpoint of the engine/tranny system.) You NEED to have some kind of flex-point, unless this is a strictly track-only trailer-queen, in order to keep from breaking something every other launch.

put in a solid mount, crack your tranny bellhousing and i get to say i told you so. when people offer advice to try to help you, don't discredit them but rather take the time to research it and find out why they would make that remark. call any local tranny shop and tell them you want a solid tranny mount and listen to what they say about the risks involved.

Thanks guys, good help! xpndbl3, I in NO WAY discredited you. I simply stated what Moroso says next to the motor mounts I bought" must use solid trans mount ". After emailing them I figured I would get on here and get some more input. I was just wanting to be sure it is right. This is the research I'm doing. At the time of your first response, you were the only response and I wanted to make sure we were on the same page. This site has many people and not always do people agree with each other. I now know that when you answer a question on here it has got to be right... because you said so! Thanks for the help!

well i may be wrong a lot of the time(others will agree to disagree i'm sure
), but for solid trans mounts, i'd say i'm right 100% of the time.
only time i'm allowed to make that remark.

Why in the hell would anyone want solid mounts? I have a friend of mine who spends to much time at the track talking to people that "know" what they are talking about, and comes home with some of the craziest idea's I have ever heard of.
example, why would you put a 4 wheel line lock on a car with a 2600 stall convertor?

Basically, it's a visual thing for me. Little bit of a cam, solid mounts, car shakes like hell= cool... to a high school kid and that's who I'm trying to please. I ran a solid setup in my pulling truck and my daughter loved it! Going to do the same in her car but had to know about the tranny mount being as nobody makes one for it. These people on here gave me advice on it and that's why in the hell I'm doing it!
I know that for every side of an argument there are at least one or two sites on the 'net that will support it. I'm on the "Solid Engine Mount, Soft Tranny Mount" school myself. For some justification, the TCI web site has this Advice (number 5 on DON'TS)
Have a great one.

I've been running the Moroso solid mounts (engine and trans) for four years on the street. No problems. A little more vibration can be felt in your behind.
By the way, I'm running a 300 horse crate 350 and Tremec TKO.

I know quite a few guys who have broken their bellhousing and other stuff by using all solid (like they were told to do by various companies) They put a poly mount on the transmission and no more problems.
