The tranny that ate second.....now what

OK, finally got the engine running right and it went and ate 2nd in about 4 days. tranny is a 700r4.

its a crate vortec tpi from scroggin. i have headers, gutted cat, 2.5in exhaust, hooker muffler, 24bosch inj, AFPR, ported plenum, holley 52mm tb, after market chip, lca, tower brace, and an after market track bar. i plan on updating the intake as soon as holley gets the stealth ram for the heads out.

the guys who sold me the tranny about 15k ago said if i buy the b&m($250) rebuild kit he will do it all for about $500 (unless it ate additional parts).

aamco tells me they will do a rebuild for for between $1000-1100 and give me a guarentee for 12/12. (he assures me i will be happy)

i am trying to decide between doing one of these or buying one of the "built" trannys you see for sale.

i would appreciate any input/insight anyone would be kind enough to offer.

car is just for fun i.e. street not track.

much apprecitate!!

I would go get the aftermarket built trans for your motor keeping in mind that your engine probably produces more torque than that of a stock engine. Or you could go to the Turbo 350 and it will handle the engine with the tranny in stock form. You will have to have the tailshaft off of your 700r4 to mount to the turbo 350 for the torque arm.
