Hard to change gears

Car: 87 IROC Black RHD
Engine: 305 TPI
Transmission: 5 speed
Hard to change gears
My 87 305 5 speed IROC has just developed a nasty habit of making it hard to put into gear.
All gear changes are becoming difficult to do and the travel of the clutch pedal is much less.
Does this all mean I need to replace the clutch etc. or could it be something else.
Any comments would be of help.
