Bolt Size?, dunno what happened
got in my car today, drive it about 1/2 a mile and started getting some NASTY clunking sounds. got it home jacked it up and found that the torque arm mount on the trans was just dangling there and the torque arm was bouncing around all under my car. the one bolt that holds the mount to the transmission has dissapeared.
where do i get a new one of these stupid bolts and what size is it. i called my local chevy dealer and they dont have it. it's just one thing after another with this car.

I looked in a parts book I have and came up with M10 x 1.5 x 30 as the bolt. You should be able to find such a bolt at ACE Hardware or the like. Get a class 8.8 or 10.9 bolt. I would also get the appropriate size locking washer at the same time as it is shown in the exploded view. Torque to 31 ft-lbs.

nice fit. 10mm thick 1.50 pitch 30 mm in lenth
and it just so happened to be 8.8 class also. i got the washer too. bought it at a hardware store and it almost costs a whole dollar!
but what a P-I-T-A to get it in there, then once it was finally in and tightened i reliezed i forgot to put the new threadlocker i just bought in with it.

Get the class bolt that is supposed to go in there. It sounds like it might be a class 8.8. FWIW, a grade 8.8 bolt M10 bolt has a torque spec of 55 N-m (about 40 ft-lbs) and a 10.9 has a torque spec of 75 N-m (56 ft-lbs). I'd be wary of going to 10.9 and trying to get the proper torque.
An aside....the torque is to stretch the bolt (preload). A bolt can fail if subjected to cyclical loads way below it's class rating if it doesn't have the proper preload. If it's not a nut-bolt combo but going into the tranny case, which IIRC it is, then get the class bolt that belongs there. If it's a nut-bolt joint and the material can handle higher compression from the increased preload, then go ahead and increase the class.
Edit: oops, too slow with reply, good job.

well i got under my car today to make sure the bolt was staying in there nice and tight. but i found that it was just spinning around, the threads in the tranny are completly stripped. i didnt get a half mile before the new bolt popped out and the torque arm started swinging around.
so what am i looking at to fix these threads???

nope it definatly threads into the tranny and it's definatly stripped.
should i take it to a shop so they'll redrill holes?
should i try filling the whole with epoxy?
this just seems to be the most ridiculous thing to go wrong on my car so i cant drive it.

helicoil, definitely. I know pep boy's has them. I'd take the tranny down to install it though. It's a bit of an awkward angle to drill out and install the helicoil. You might be able to dangle it down enough, tilting the engine, but I'm not sure.

these heli-coil kits run 40$! and i WOULD have to lower the tranny somehow to install it
i called my trusty shop and he said that if i took it to them they would either do the heli coil or re-tap the hole and put the next bigger sizer bolt in, either way its gonna cost me 120$ for 2 hours labor they said.
