Adjusting megashifter

Hey all i recently pick up a new car (87 iroc) and it has the b&m megashifter installed.

since i never delt with this shifter can anyone tell me how to adjust the shifter?

i tried doing a search and this is all i got does it sound right?

1. Get in car, put shifter into a gear
2. Get out of car
3. Get under car
4. Adjust cable
5. Stand up again
6. Repeat steps 1-5 for each shifter stop (1,2,3,4,N,R,P), TWICE!

also what am i adjusting for just tighten the cable till it's tight or what?

thanks

You can go to the B&M site and get a copy of the owners manual on the megashifter in PDF format. Sometimes you need to do a little more searching outside of thirdgen.org!

http://www.bmracing.com/media/products/pdf/8.pdf

basically what you need to do is disconnect the cable from the trans end. Ratchet the shifter in to the 1st gear position. Crawl under the vehicle and rotate the trans swivel to first gear. Attach cable to swivel and adjust until tight.
Go through all the gears and make sure it is hitting the detents. It is pretty hard to NOT get it right.

shifter adjustment

406 gta pretty much nailed it. I just istalled a b&m mega shifter for the 82 to 92 camaro, the adjustment went like the, put the shifter to 1st, the put the trans in first. set up the cable linkage and make the adjustments. Then they're telling you to unhook the cable from the braket on the trans pan and move the shifter to park and the tranny lever to park, see if it hooks up without making adjustments, if it needs it, do it. Thats how I did it per instructions and it works like a champ! I installed it on a 84 model 700r.
