More Tranny problems WTF!

Hey, I just got back from my deployment and had my TH700r4 rebuilt.........again. (The last guy, if you check my posts, that "rebuilt" my tranny took out the front pump and didn't seat the torque converter properly into the input shaft and front pump.) I took it to a shop in my town and they rebuilt it. They told me that the old torque converter couldn't be used because it took out the front pump and showed wear. Now, they are telling me that the new torque converter is bad. I've yet to see them crank up the car and attempt to move it, but things are looking grim. Secondly, It will cost $200 to take it out and put a good one in, one I have to furnish! Will a torque converter just not move a car, or does it give signs of it being dead. Help please! I've already sunk $1000 in this tranny!!

Oh yes, though the tranny is in my 1984 Z28, It has been upgraded to the 30 spline input shaft and matching torque converter. Modifications to date are a Transgo racing master rebuild kit, new sunshield, new input shaft, new output shaft, Transgo shift reprogramming kit stage 2, .500 boost valve with matching low reverse boost valve, billet corvette servo, and a TCI 30 spline 2500 stall lockup torque converter. (A tranny oil cooler on the way!)
On another note: I bought this car at a police auction. I've yet to run the engine numbers, but the thing that surprised me is that the engine has a 2bbl carb, but the engine is strong as hell when I pressed the go pedal. (The few days I drove it before the first tranny "rebuild".) It doesn't look like the intake was aftermarket, or even recently installed for that matter. So my guess until I run the numbers is that it may or may not be a 305. Maybe a nostalgic 350, 327, 305? This car project is sooooooooooooo much fun!!
