yes haha my title is kind of mis leading, BUT...someone please explain to me about gear ratios... like i have 3.73s what makes that different from 4.10s and 2.73s or wutever.......
Number of times the wheels turn for every time the driveshaft turns.
so my wheels spin 3 times once my drive shaft has spun 73 times?? huh im lost...
Nono, if your rear end ratio is 3.73 it's short for 3.73:1. So wheels spin 3.70 rotations while the driveshaft spins one.
edit: oops I am an idiot. It's the other way around.

Say you spin your wheel 1 turn and your driveshaft turns 3.5 times.
More than likely you have 3.55 gears.
My old rear (10 bolt), the driveshaft turned 3.37 turns, I knew it was a 7.5 rear, so it had to be 3.42's. Called the dealer, gave them the last 8 digits in my VIN and I was right (3.42"s)
So, the lower gear you have (ie:3.73's, 4.11's) the more turns your driveshaft will turn for ever 1 turn your tire spins.
This only works if you have a POSI, if you have an OPEN type, multiple the driveshaft turns by 2.

Close, wheels spin once for every 3.73 turns of the shaft.Originally posted by 305q_ta86
