Hey all, I'm a little new here with you guys so bear with me please. Anyway, I have an 86' IROC with a 5 speed and it sounds like my tranny is making some really whacked out noises. When I begin to let up on the clutch it makes a really high pitched screaming/whinning sound and continues in and out of the other gears. Also, getting into reverse is gradually becoming more of a chore, any ideas? I'd like to believe the tranny isn't going out seeing as these noises just started the other day, but I'm not sure, I'm not a great tranny guy. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

 

Sounds like the gear on your imput shaft has had it, but could be many things. Have you let it run low on fluid? I would Drain it good, put some 20-50 synthetic oil in it and drive it till it quits! but thats just me! good luck!!
