Gear installation

I've been wantign to learn to install my own gears, how ever I can't seem to find any one willing to teach me, or a good book on how to do this task. Can any one recommend a book or site that will have the required information to leanr how to install gears?

Thanks and my apologies if this is in the wrong place.

Would something like Chilton go into enough depth that I would be able to follow it?

I'm not nescessarily a top mechanic but I would venture to say I am capable. I'm built mostly motors, and I'm looking to venture into the rest of my car.

Thanks for the help

I haven't looked at Chiltons when I did mine, but usually they are too vague and with this stuff you need guidance. I have Helms manual, but it was written by engineers and was rather unintuitive.

Start with this site. Very good and detailed walk through. Once you memorize this webpage, you will have enough knowledge to ask the right questions and people on this board should be able to help you through the rest.

Between the site above and randy's gear installation manual (you need both) should be all the information you need to do your own install.
