I have a 87 ta and have taken the tpi out and got it running very well with a carb and upgrades.-- now for my question-I was told that I should buy a kit to put in the tranny that alows it to work properly without the computer (ibelieve it is for the lock up of the tork cinverter).. Is this true? I have also heard throught the grapevine that if one knows what wites to use one can put a toggle in to do the some thing.. Is this true?

any input and advice on how I should procced will be greatly appricated.

Yes, you'll need a way to control the TCC without the computer. If the wiring harness isn't butchered, then you can control it manually with a switch wired to the ALDL connector, as described in the tech article on this site.

It will work without the computer, as long as the wiring didn't get too hacked up when the computer was removed.
