HELP! Shifter won't come off???

Ok, I have the B&M shifter, and I'm trying to take it out. I removed the 4 bolts surrounding it, but it feels like it is still bolted on! What am I missing?

It's probely sealed with rtv which might give it that impression of being bolted if it hasn't been removed in a while. Somtimes that stuff really sticks. I just stick a screwdriver under the lip at the base of the shifter and pry it off.

There's nothing holding it on except those 4 bolts and RTV. So if you have removed those 4 bolts.........all that's holding it on is RTV (deductive reasoning), which actually does a pretty good job of sticking parts together when applied properly, and has been known to bend stuff while trying to seperate parts.

Assuming you did not install the shifter, becasue then you wouldn't have asked how to uninstall it (deductive reasoning again). Something you should keep in mind: You never know what some other a-hole did, for all you know the guy who installed the shifter used JB Weld instead of RTV. look around see if you see any RTV around the edges. If you see RTV, then pry away. If you see some other adhesive, well lets just hope you don't.

Maybe it is a very clean application of RTV? I don't see any other than the stuff that was on there before...

try tapping the base off with a dead blow. If that doesnt work try slamming the shyt off with the dead blow (on the base of course). Trust me theres no way to damage a ripper shifter with a dead blow.
