Im pulling my trans tomorrow after work for a rebuild, Is there anything special that I will need? I just want to make sure I have everything I need cause once I start I will be car-less.
How many quarts of fluid do I need to get? alot I know!
what size line wrench do I need for the fluid lines?

(Trying to remember here
)
Get a case of fluid (more than you need
)
I believe the fittings were 1/2"
Make sure you have a new poly tranny mount too, might as well, torque arm too?

I got 10 quarts
already have the poly mount
didnt get the wrench cause I didnt know what size. Im thinking it would be the same as the end that goes into the RAD....correct?
if it does then I'll pick it up tomorrow on my way home to begin this project.
Gotta pull tomorrow, have it out by night, take it to a friends house, he'll take it to where I work, gotta get a ride to work, once at work other friend will lend me his truck to drive it to charlotte to have it rebuilt and Transgo kit put in, come back take friend his truck, go to his house after work, then go back to charlotte and pick tranny up late afternoon, go back to my house and have all weekend to put it back in....
I gotta hell of a day, I just hope the tranny comes out without a problem.

I just got out from under the car and PB blasted all the bolts and checked on the lines nuts and yes they are 1/2 inch and they look to be a pain to get to cause they are up there on the side of the tranny.... I was looking and WOW the tranny top bolts are way the hell up there too and look very hard to get to. I just hope that once I let the tranny down some I will be able to get to them with the long extensions that I have.

I was able to remove the tranny with the motor, but didnt when i reinstalled it (
).
I used a wrench to get at the top of the housing, btw the cooler lines can be safely moved downward with the tranny as you lower it, then take them off (i made a "special" wrench to tighten them)
Good luck

just did mine a month or two back and never had done one myself (actually pulled the replacement out of another car so that makes two).
1) make sure you jack up your car really high if you use a transmission jack.
2) to loosen the torque converter bolts, insert a flathead screwdriver between the flexplate and torque converter and get the butt end of it against the floorpan so that it won't turn on you when wrenching. or get someone to hold the crank from turning with a big socket on the front of the engine.
3) when removing the tranny lines, make sure you have wrenches holding the adapters into the transmission because I completely twisted my tranny line cause I didn't notice.
4) all tranny bolts are 14mm (9/16"). the 2 bottom tranny bolts can be easily accessed. the 2 middle bolts can be easily accessed with an extention and universal joint. the top bolts can be very difficultly accessed from the bottom with several extentions and probably 2 universal joints, OR you can use a jack and 2*4 to gently jack up the engine under the oil pan (gives you a little clearance, but too much makes the job harder). Then get the dist. cap, coil, and brake booster vacuum hose out of your way, set a pillow onto your wiper fluid container, along with as many different sized 14" wrenches you have (you're bound to drop them), hop into the engine bay and sit on your pillow (get comfortable cause you'll be there a while fiddling with the bolts) and you should be able to get an open end 14mm (9/16") wrench on the bolts, and eventually you'll loosen them up.
the latter option of removing the coil and dist. cap etc will also help you remove the bolt for the transmission dipstick tube. and if you're like me you won't bother with bolting the dipstick back in. Good luck, let us know if you have any problems
