T56 won't disengage.

My trans started acting like there was air in the hydraulics. I'd push in the clutch and it wouldn't go into gear without grinding. So I replaced the master and slave cylinders with the GM replacement and it's still doing it. I jacked up the rear and with the engine running and the clutch depressed just pushing the shifter towards any gear makes the tires spin.

It seems like the trans input shaft is binding in the pilot bushing or something. Any thoughts?

how does the pedal feel? soft hard ect. I am guessing soft as you sail " like air in the line" do you think you have full travel?

I know it's not the hydraulics because I just put in a new sealed pre-filled setup from GM, master cylinder and slave. The slave cylinder had those little plastic ties holding the pushrod in and after installing it I pushed on the clutch and heard them pop as the pushrod went out so I know it's working. I've had the trans in for a couple years now and the pedal feels the same as always.

Maybe the bolt that holds the clutch fork is backing out??

You might have better luck asking on camaroz28.com about your problem.

Either the cluthc fork or maybe the throw out bearing is some how jammed. Either way, sounds like your gonna pull the transmission.

Yeah, pulling the trans is the next step. Just gotta find the time for it, it might be a week or two.

yes but, I wanted to know if it felt stiff as in something binding up, or very soft like some thing (fork?) let loose. that's how you can start diagnosing stuff. you take it slowly and make a note of what is differant specifically.
