4th Gen Rear hold up?

Gonna be installing a 500hp 383 into my Iroc with a built 700r4. Im looking into gettting a 4th gen rear but am concerned about how well they hold up. I know its better then the one in my 86 now, plus the upgrade to disc brakes. Car isnt gonna be a daily but a weekend cruiser and im sure I will get on it some(or alot depending heh). How well do these things hold up?

not really any stronger than the 3rd gen rears except for having 28 spline axles instead of 26 splines(82-89)

with 500 hp, id say you need something else, or at least beef it up as much as possible

Ya thats what I was thinking but I want to try and keep some costs down atm so no 9 or 12 bolt for me....besides adding one of those aluminum brace covers to the gear area of the axle what else can be done without rebuilding the whole unit?

It will hold up the same as the 3rd gen 10-bolt ( 28 spline) because they are the same.

You can make that rear end last forever or after just one launch. Traction and abuse kill 10bolts more than power alone.

Well I dont plan on ******* it...but considering im gonna be running a 315/35/17 rear wheel with spohn suspension....I have this sinking feeling that its just gonna go pop. Guess I should just break down and get a 12 bolt.

That was easy, $2500+ and a can of paint and you get a 12-bolt.
