700R4 problem

I bought a rebuilt 700 R4 and ran the tranny for no more than 30,000 miles.. Blew a engine rod and the engine/ tranny sat for 7 years... Dropped a new engine in and the same tranny(30,000 miles). Now the transmission doesnt want to shift into over drive...

TV cable is fine and the transmission cable are fine.
It switches from 1 , 2 ,3 fine but no OD
***sometimes it has trouble shifting from second to third/wont shift until red line. I believe this is because the tranny over heats from all the driving then struggles to shift at the temp it goes to.

any input is welcomed as I am struggling to work every day in Drive

Your 3/4 clutches are probably wasted, this is a typical problem with these transmissions. I have no good explination as to why it seemed to have happened while the car sat with no engine.

hmmm could this have anything to do with my TV cable being too stretched.. after we pulled the engine the kid told me that I have to make sure someone who knew what they were doing fixed the cable again.... and He now told me that we must have messed it up. I already lost Over Drive... he said IM going to slowly loose 3rd gear thend 2nd and first

The TV cable must be done right or it will fry the trans. Have to have the right line pressure set by the cable.
