T56 rebld - Need input shaft. Who makes a SFI bellhousing?
My tranny is hurting bad. The input shaft is out of wack by 20 thou and the output - 5-6 gear splines are worn. Looks like the previous owner accidentally threw it in reverse while rolling and the splines jumped. The input may have been dropped or possibly bent if the tranny was hanging all the weight on the shaft when removing.
I talk to Steve and D&D performance. Those guys are great, very helpful. Anyway, they have new mainshafts for 149 cause they pull them out of their new trannys when they convert them to the viper output setup. Just in case you were wondering, they do not recommend that expensive viper setup unless you break the stock one or you are running 9.40 or faster! Pleanty of guys they know running 9.90s on a stock LT1 T56!!
A new input is 299. Just wondering if I could find one cheaper. I already am $510 into the rebuild.
Second question is who makes a SFI approved bellhousing that will mount to my pre 1987 SBC. Also need a flywheel and clutch recommendation for a car that can pull 10.50s on motor.
My plan for now is to use the trans back and forth between the 83 and the 90 until I get extra dough to buy another trans.

The clutch I would go w/ the spec stage 5. I have one and it's actually easier to drive than the stage 4. The 5 is rated to 1000 ft lbs.
