I dropped all my fricken tranny fluid
I was on my way to my buddies shop and on the way my car was blowin a lot of smoke out the back.I was like WTF!I wasnt to far from his shop so when I got there we checked it and under the car tranny fluid was spewing out around where the tranny plastic dust shield thingy .We lifted the car and upon further inspection came to the conclusion its the front main seal .
He said I could take out the tranny my self to change that seal and all I need is a floor jack, some jacks and all the tools necesssary, which he has.
Now my question is: Can this be done with out a hydrolic lift or a tranny jack
Also,If I can get the tranny out, what else should I change to new while Im under there.I know I should get new freeze plugs and have the torque convertor checked out.But what else is a good idea to change

You can do it without a lift, but you really shouldn't do it without a tranny jack. Even a cheap mechanical type from Harbor Freight is better than trying to balance the transmission on a floor jack. I've done both, and I'll never go back.
A good thing to change while the tranny is out would be the tranny
.
But, assuming that isn't in the picture, change out all the external seals, filter, and pan gasket.
Don't forget to take off the distributor cap before you start removing any mounts.

Yeah when I replaced my trans, I "made" a wooden adapter to go between my floor jack and the trans... what a pain. Next time I'll definately pick up an adapter.

Took out the tranny today with the help of my good friend mike.It went smooth.Almost forgot about the distributor cap but got got to it right before I was ready to pull the tranny thank ***.Once we got the tranny out we were 100 percent sure it was that dam front main seal.Freeze plugs are all good.Had to call it a day though.
Tomorrow mike and I are going back to the shop to put everything back togther.
Oh yeah, while taking the tranny out, some of the bell housing bolts and tranny bracket mount bolts were so loose I could take em out by hand
They appear to be the right bolts so maybe who ever worked on the tranny b4 me did a ****y job putting things back together. Also, the tranny mount was torn to shreds(that rubber piece between the tranny and that bracket dillio. So maybe thats another reason the bolts were loose
Oh ,and the driveshaft was cuttin groves on the underside of my car due to that sity tranny mount,I think
